The Anniversary Adventure 2026 Part Two Sponsored by Tylenol – Day Six September 15th

I was delighted to not wake until 8pm. With my body adjusted to the new time zone, this was a much more acceptable time to be awake, especially as today was to be a non park day.

Today however was a big day for Emily and Mikey. As part of Emily’s gifts to Mikey for his 30th earlier this year she had booked them two nights at the Poly, Club Level no less and today they were checking in.

I was dropping them off and we left around 9.40, arriving at the very posh entrance just after 10. Feeling only a little jealous I headed back to the villa to collect Louise and head off to Target for yet more “bits”. Our tour of all the places I suggested Louise look for tops the other day continued with TJ Max and Ross and finally on to Walmart.

We were back at the villa around lunchtime and we just relaxed around the house and pool all day, recharging the batteries.

I suspect this day would be a much more interesting read from Emily and Mikey’s perspective and if you seek Emily out on socials you might see some of her holiday there.

We were showered and ready to go out for dinner by 5.30pm. With nothing pre-planned for this day I surfed the Disney app during the afternoon and booked us in at STK at Disney Springs at 7.45pm. We parked in Lime as we always do and had a wander into Uniqlo, still looking for some tops for Louise.

We left with four new tops for me, for work. I did show my age at the self checkout. It was from the future and all you had to do was literally drop each item into a hole and it figured out what it was and totted up the prices. It took me far longer to work that out than it should.

We made our way over to STK and had a fifteen minute wait in reception before being seated.

We watched many folks attempt a walk up and be denied by a two hour wait time.

I once again demonstrated my advancing years by immediately noticing how loud it was when we were seated. It was one of those places that requires you to shout at each other despite being only inches apart. This was made all the more challenging by the next table to us, with one chap in particular literally shouting at the top of his lungs to convey a message to the other people sat at the same table.

We also had to use our phone torches to read the menu. How very old we are…..

Anyway, we ordered….

Louise had Filet Mignon (never a cheap date!) with mash and asparagus.

I had the much more reasonable Steak Frites.

It was very good steak and a lovely meal. With one wine and a Diet Coke the bill was $225 including a good tip. At that price and volume we probably wouldn’t rush back but that is no criticism of the food which we thoroughly enjoyed. There are just better options in that price range where you can talk to each other.

Now we made a very welcome return to one of our favourite haunts, Wine Bar George. We found a couple of seats at the bar and Louise had a red wine and I had what I consider to be the best Espresso Martini on property.

We savoured those and the relative peace and quiet of this place for $36. This reminded us how much we enjoyed the trip we did a few years back when stayed at the Drury Plaza, and relaxed all day and then went to eat at Disney Springs every night, followed by drinks here. We must do that again some time.

With me driving tonight, I was limited to one so we left around 10.20pm, walked back to Lime, loving the balmy evening air and all the sights and sounds of Disney Springs. We were home and asleep just after 11.

Till the next time…..
